Justice Demanded for Madımak Victims in Cologne

The 33rd anniversary of the Madımak Massacre, which occurred on July 2, 1993, in Sivas, was commemorated with a memorial program held in Cologne, Germany. At the event, organized at the call of the North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) Regional Representation of the Federation of Alevi Associations in Germany (AABF), hundreds of people gathered next to Cologne's iconic Cathedral to remember the 33 individuals who lost their lives with respect, longing, and a demand for justice.

In addition to AABF executives, representatives from Alevi organizations, democratic mass organizations, and numerous citizens attended the memorial program. Participants commemorated the 33 people who lost their lives at the Madımak Hotel and called for the incident to be fully illuminated and for justice to be served.

Speeches made throughout the event emphasized that the Madımak Massacre was a grave crime against humanity, and it was stated that the failure to achieve full justice despite the passage of 33 years continues to be a deep wound in the social conscience.

Message of "We Have Not Forgotten, We Will Not Let You Forget" Conveyed

Slogans such as "We have not forgotten, we will not let you forget" and "Justice for Sivas, justice for all" were frequently chanted during the memorial ceremony. Participants stated that the struggle for truth and justice would be carried on with determination and that the 33 souls lost in Madımak would not be forgotten.

The memorial program in Cologne concluded after a moment of silence and the speeches, with participants once again sharing their demands for justice with the public.
