The Public Service Training Preparation Program (AVÖD), organized by BWK BildungsWerk operating in Berlin's Kreuzberg district, has been successfully completed. Graduates of the program received their certificates at a ceremony, where attention was drawn to the importance of training qualified personnel for the future of public institutions.
The certificate ceremony was attended by Berlin State Senator for Labor, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity, and Anti-Discrimination Cansel Kızıltepe, President of the Berlin Higher Regional Court Dr. Andrea Diekmann, Deputy Head of the Berlin Police Department Marco Langner, representatives from the Berlin Police Academy, Senate officials, instructors, and participants.
The program was implemented for the 17th time by BWK BildungsWerk upon the assignment of the Berlin Senate Department for Labor, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity, and Anti-Discrimination.
Speaking at the opening of the Public Service Preparation Training Program, organized by BWK BildungsWerk in Berlin Kreuzberg, General Manager Nihat Sorgeç emphasized that the program is a strategic investment not only in the professional future of young people but also in the future of Berlin's public administration.

"It is a great honor to conduct this program for the 17th time"
BWK BildungsWerk General Manager Nihat Sorgeç, beginning his speech by greeting the participants, thanked the Berlin Senate Department for their trust in the institution and stated that it is a great pride for them to conduct the public service preparation training for the 17th time.
Sorgeç stated that the training program not only contributes to the individual career goals of the participants and made the following assessment:
"With this program, we are not only investing in the professional future of our participants. We are also investing in the future of Berlin. Every participant who successfully completes the training will strengthen public administration, the police force, the judiciary, and security institutions; and will contribute to increasing citizens' trust in a strong and effective state."
Demographic change increases the need for new personnel in public service
Sorgeç stated that the demographic change in Germany has created a significant need for personnel in public institutions, reminding that about one-third of public employees will retire in the next ten years.
Therefore, he stated that training the new generation of public officials has become a necessity rather than a choice, and drew attention to the critical importance of qualified personnel for the sustainability of public service.

Sorgeç also thanked the employees of the Berlin Senate Department who contributed to the preparation of the program, stating that the project was realized with great dedication, professionalism, and foresight.
Sorgeç stated that the training program is much more than a classic vocational course, and that it constitutes a long-term investment in the future of Berlin.

Sorgeç pointed out that Berlin is a dynamic metropolis where different cultures live together, and emphasized the importance of public institutions reflecting this diversity.
Sorgeç stressed the need for responsible, well-educated young people willing to serve the community, and stated that the knowledge, experience, and cultural background of individuals from different backgrounds will make public service stronger and more inclusive.

At the end of his speech, Nihat Sorgeç recalled the words of former German Chancellor Willy Brandt, "The best way to predict the future is to shape it together," and stated that the training program was implemented with exactly this understanding.
Addressing the participants, Sorgeç stated that the new generation who will undertake responsibilities in public service is of great importance for Berlin's security, stability, and sustainable future, and called on the youth:
"Today, you are perhaps taking the first step on a journey where you will undertake important responsibilities for our society. Seize this opportunity with determination, courage, and curiosity. We will work together to carry Berlin forward as a strong, safe, and livable city."
Sorgeç concluded his speech by thanking the Berlin Senate Department for their years of cooperation and trust, and also thanked all his colleagues who contributed to the preparation of the training program for their contributions.

Public administration needs motivated expert personnel who will take responsibility and are well-educated. Berlin offers secure career opportunities as well as meaningful tasks."
Hundreds of different career opportunities in public service
Kızıltepe stated that the public sector is not limited to a few well-known professions, and that there are many different professions and areas of expertise.
The Senator pointed out that young people often do not know which professions exist in public administration, saying, "When public service is mentioned, a few professions like automotive technician or physiotherapist usually come to mind. However, there are much broader and diverse career options in the public sector. It is very important for young people to learn how the administrative system works."
Preparation courses for public service contribute to success
Kızıltepe emphasized the great importance of the Public Service Preparation Training Program (Ausbildungsvorbereitung Öffentlicher Dienst) for this reason and stated that the Berlin Senate continues to strongly support the program.
Kızıltepe stated that the program offers an important preparation process for young people who are not familiar with the functioning of public administration, and that these trainings are an important step for those who want to pursue a career in public institutions.
"Diversity is Berlin's greatest strength"
Senator Cansel Kızıltepe pointed out that approximately 49% of Berlin's population has a migration background and stated that public institutions should also reflect this societal diversity.
"We aim to reach all young people, with or without a migration background, who have different life stories," said Kızıltepe, adding:
"Berlin is a multicultural city. We want this diversity to be represented in public administration as well. Diversity is not just a goal for us, but also an important responsibility that we must fulfill."
Kızıltepe stated that the Participation Law (Partizipationsgesetz) is an important step that strengthens the equal participation of individuals with migration backgrounds in public life and emphasized that these policies will be consistently pursued.
