SPD Group Leader in the Berlin State Parliament Raed Saleh, in a statement regarding the terrorist attack during the Christopher Street Day (CSD) event, stated that the attack targeted not only the participants but also Berlin's liberal understanding of life and its democracy.

In his written statement, Saleh expressed that the attack carried out against people peacefully celebrating in the heart of Berlin caused deep sorrow in society.

"Berlin's Free Way of Life Targeted"

Raed Saleh emphasized that the attack was a deliberate and ideological act of terror, stating the following:

"This brutal attack carried out against people peacefully celebrating in the very heart of Berlin deeply shook all of us. This despicable act is a deliberate attack on our understanding of an open society, our culture of coexistence, and our democracy."

Saleh stated that the incident occurred in Berlin's Tiergarten, near one of the globally recognized meeting points for the LGBTQ+ community, and pointed out that according to initial findings, the attack may have been carried out with an Islamist terror motive.

"We Stand With the Injured, We Share the Grief of the Bereaved"

The SPD politician extended his wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack and also offered his condolences to the family and relatives of the person who lost their life.

Saleh also thanked the medical teams, police, and fire departments that responded quickly to the scene, as well as the CSD organizing committee, and emphasized the importance of the calm and swift response demonstrated during the crisis.

Berlin Senate and State Parliament to Take Action

Raed Saleh stated that the Berlin Senate and the Berlin State Parliament would address all aspects of the attack, and that the incident would be thoroughly investigated and the necessary political consequences drawn.

"We Will Not Bow to Terror"

At the end of his statement, Saleh delivered a message of unity and solidarity, using the following words:

"We vehemently condemn this act of terror. No one will intimidate us. We will not surrender Berlin, a symbol of peace, freedom, and coexistence, to terror. This inhumane attack must be fully investigated, and those responsible must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
