Özgür Özel announced the founding of YENİ Parti after performing Friday prayers at Ankara's Hacı Bayram Veli Mosque.
Özel addressed members of the press, thanking them for being with him on a critical day for Turkish political history.
"WE ARE NOT A STEP AWAY FROM THE FOUNDING VALUES OF THE REPUBLIC"
In his speech, Özgür Özel recalled Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's departure to Samsun after the occupation of Istanbul and Izmir. Referring to the Friday prayer performed with a sword at Hacı Bayram Veli Mosque on April 23, 1920, he stated that they had performed prayers in the same mosque.
He then stated that they would visit the First Grand National Assembly, where Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades led the War of Independence. Özel emphasized that the location was the courtyard of Hacı Bayram Veli Mosque and the First Grand National Assembly. He added that the day marked the 103rd anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne on July 24.
He reminded that 103 years ago, the Treaty of Sèvres was torn up and discarded, and with Lausanne, Turkey's title deed was accepted. He expressed that they commemorated with mercy and gratitude those who contributed to the Treaty of Lausanne, especially İsmet Pasha.
He stated that they stood on solid foundations where Sèvres was torn up and discarded, and the independent Republic of Turkey was declared. He emphasized that they would never give up on Lausanne, the National Pact (Misak-ı Milli) borders, Turkey's indivisible integrity, and the founding values of the Republic.

"WE WILL HOLD OUR FIRST MEETING AT THE ANADOLU KULÜBÜ"
Özel announced that they would hold their first meeting after visiting the First Grand National Assembly. He reported that the party's founding documents, signed by 91 deputies, had been submitted to the Ministry of Interior and that the "Received" document had been obtained.
He said that together with 91 founding deputies, they would go to the Anadolu Kulübü, which was established 100 years ago under the instructions of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He reminded that the first founders of the Anadolu Kulübü were deputies and ministers of the Republican People's Party.
He noted that they would hold their first meeting with the Founding Board at the Anadolu Kulübü to determine the Chairman and administrative bodies.
"WE WILL ESTABLISH THE GOVERNMENT THAT WILL PREPARE THE FUTURE BUDGETS"
Özel stated that technical preparations were ongoing with the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Court of Appeals, and the Parliament. He noted that by the end of the day, YENİ Parti's Party Council and Chairman would be determined, its group in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) would be established, and the party would be declared the main opposition party.
He stated that YENİ Parti would serve as the main opposition party until the first election. He said that there would be a year in which the party would participate in budget discussions as the opposition for the first and only time.
He then stated that, with the will of the nation, they would come to power, solve the problems of the people, and prepare budgets that would bring peace and prosperity to the country.
"OUR COMPANIONS ARE OUR BELOVED NATION"
Özel thanked the people of Ankara who did not leave them alone on this historic day. He extended his gratitude to everyone who inspired and supported their march for democracy. He emphasized that the final say belongs to the nation.
He used the expressions: "Our companions are our beloved nation. Our path is the path to power. The direction our compass points is power. From now on, let us walk tirelessly and without rest until we reach power."
