Thailand is intensifying its efforts targeting the highest-spending segment of the international tourism market. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with London-based Private Luxury Events, will bring the Ultra Thailand 2027 event to Bangkok from June 20-24. The event, to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, will be Ultra's first event in Southeast Asia.

The invitation-only event connects luxury tourism service providers with an exclusive international network of buyers serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals. For Thailand, this event offers local tourism companies a business platform while providing an opportunity to introduce a comprehensive understanding of luxury, based on wellness, gastronomy, culture, and personalized experiences, to the international market.

Thailand focuses on the ultra-luxury market

Ultra's buyer network includes family offices, senior executives and personal assistants, and representatives who organize travel for celebrities. Participants are selected based on the nature and scope of the client portfolios they serve.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool stated, "Ultra Thailand 2027 brings Thailand into one of the world's most influential ultra-luxury travel networks."

TAT plans to highlight Thailand's unique concept of luxury, built on personalized service, cultural richness, and human connections, at the event. A wide range of products, from wellness and gastronomy to private travel, art, living cultural heritage, and local experiences, will be offered to international buyers.

Kiatphaibool stated that the event would create significant business opportunities for Thai tourism businesses and strengthen the country's position as a high-value, sustainable tourism destination.

Wealthy population rapidly growing in Bangkok

Bangkok's selection as the host coincides with a period of increasing prominence for the Thai capital in the international wealth and luxury hospitality market. According to data shared by TAT, the ultra-high-net-worth population in Bangkok is expected to increase by more than 50 percent by 2030.

Knight Frank, on the other hand, forecasts that the ultra-high-net-worth population across Thailand will grow by 26 percent between 2026 and 2031. This development is transforming the country into one of Asia's emerging wealth markets.

International hotel investments are also progressing in parallel with this trend. Aman Nai Lert Bangkok and The Langham's project to restore and convert the historic Custom House building on the banks of the Chao Phraya River into a hotel are among the examples of development in Bangkok's upper-segment accommodation market.

Wellness and Thai hospitality at the heart of the luxury strategy

TAT is increasingly associating its luxury tourism strategy with wellness, personalization, and meaningful travel experiences. The organization's communication approach, "Healing is the New Luxury," also reflects this strategy.

The concept of "nam jai," which expresses Thailand's traditional understanding of generosity and warm hospitality, is also highlighted as one of the key elements of the country's luxury tourism approach. This approach, combined with wellness, gastronomy, art, and culture, aims to differentiate Thailand from destinations that primarily define luxury by accommodation standards and material privileges.

Christy Kuplic, Managing Director of Private Luxury Events, stated, "Bangkok is entering an exciting period of growth in the top segment of the luxury travel market." According to Kuplic, the growth of private wealth, investments by leading international hotel brands, and Thailand's emphasis on high-value tourism have created a favorable environment for Ultra to come to Bangkok.

Over one million one-on-one business meetings

For over a decade, Private Luxury Events has been organizing networking events for the international luxury travel sector. According to company data, over one million one-on-one business meetings have been facilitated at more than 200 events held in over 90 countries to date.

Ultra, meanwhile, constitutes the most exclusive segment of the company's event portfolio. The international Ultra community has so far included luxury travel brands such as AMAN, Orient Express, The Datai, Windows to Japan, Domaine Louise, and Tangile Malamala Collection.

With Ultra's first event in Southeast Asia taking place in Bangkok in 2027, Thai hotels, destination specialists, and other tourism businesses will have the opportunity to connect directly with international buyers serving ultra-high-net-worth clients. The event is also expected to strengthen Bangkok's position on the global luxury tourism calendar. Image: © AI-generated image
