Bavarian State Premier Markus Söder, in his speech at the Bavarian Order of Merit ceremony held at the Residenz Palace in Munich, emphasized that the sacrifices of individuals who have provided outstanding service to society are appreciated at the highest level by the state.
At this year's ceremony, 68 individuals, including Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Dr. İsmail Baloğlu and former politician Ekin Deligöz, were honored with the Bavarian Order of Merit for their outstanding contributions to the State of Bavaria and society.
"We Honor the People Who Make Bavaria Strong and Special"
Speaking at the ceremony, Premier Markus Söder stated that the Bavarian Order of Merit is one of the state's most prestigious awards and said:
"The Bavarian Order of Merit honors the people who make Bavaria so strong, special, and beloved. This order cannot be bought, it cannot be inherited; it is only earned through outstanding service."
Order of Merit Limited to Only 2,000 People
Söder pointed out that the Bavarian Order of Merit is a privileged award, stating that the number of recipients is limited to 2,000 people.
Söder stated that exemplary individuals are needed more than ever during difficult times for society, and that the award recipients contribute to the development of society by taking on responsibility.
"Everyone who receives this order has demonstrated their loyalty to their homeland, their diligence, their passion, and their joy for life. They are inspiring role models for our society."
"Volunteers are the Cornerstone of Social Solidarity"
Premier Söder noted that the award recipients have served culture, science, environment, nature, sports, politics, faith values, and social cohesion for many years, and also highlighted the importance of volunteering.
"Volunteer work forms the backbone of our society," said Söder, adding that people who work selflessly for others play a significant role in keeping Bavaria livable and strong.
Söder also emphasized that citizens who voluntarily support their elderly and needy relatives deserve the highest appreciation, and concluded his speech with the following words:
"I wholeheartedly congratulate and thank all the award recipients who work with dedication for our society."
The Bavarian Order of Merit is among the state's most respected civil honors and is awarded to individuals who have contributed to society for many years in the fields of science, health, culture, politics, social services, and volunteering.
