Workers' reactions are growing against planned layoffs and restrictions on social rights in Germany's automotive sector. Protests led by the IG Metall Union are continuing against employment reduction plans that have emerged at many major companies, including Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, Bosch, Festo, and Mahle.

The Stuttgart branch of IG Metall organized a protest this time with a convoy of cars. Hundreds of workers gathered with their vehicles in an area near the Stuttgart Television Tower. Following the rally, held with union flags, slogans, and whistles, the workers proceeded in a convoy to the city center, honking their horns.

Speaking at the rally, IG Metall Stuttgart Chairman Liane Papaioannou reacted to the social reform package prepared by the federal government, saying, "Rights that workers have gained through years of struggle are being targeted for the sake of more profit. The planned reforms include social cuts, price increases, and deterioration of public services. Raising the retirement age, increasing working hours, and disregarding rights won through collective bargaining are unacceptable. We will continue to build solidarity for secure jobs and a safe future."

The basis for the strikes and protests held in various German cities over the past month lies in government regulations that would curtail workers' rights, layoff plans in the automotive sector, and uncertainties regarding the future of young workers. IG Metall demands the protection of current employment, the strengthening of Germany as an industrial hub, and the provision of a secure future for employees.

Union representatives, who have organized strikes and mass demonstrations against layoff plans that could affect tens of thousands of employees in the automotive and metal sectors in recent months, state that participation in strikes and protests is increasing daily, while workers emphasize that they will continue their struggle against the loss of rights and employment reductions.
