ITB Berlin is adopting a new hall layout as part of the long-term modernization of the Berlin Exhibition Grounds for its 2027 event. The plan, prepared in connection with the construction of the new multi-purpose conference and event center dock9, aims to strengthen thematic placement, facilitate visitor navigation, and utilize exhibition capacity more efficiently.

 

CityCube Berlin Becomes an Important Part of the Exhibition

 

The most striking element of the new arrangement is that CityCube Berlin will be used directly as an exhibition space for the first time.

 

Exhibitors previously located in halls 7.1c, 8.1, 9, and 10.1 will move to CityCube Berlin. This way, the new areas with modern infrastructure will offer greater flexibility, especially for large and technologically more comprehensive stands.

 

Directly connected to the exhibition grounds, CityCube Berlin will also provide easy access for visitors with its dedicated entrances, taxi drop-off point, and proximity to the Messe Süd S-Bahn station.

 

New Layout to Strengthen Thematic Cohesion

 

Instead of a comprehensive restructuring, ITB Berlin is implementing targeted changes covering specific exhibitor groups.

 

With the new hall plan, complementary tourism segments will be brought together in the same areas, making it easier for visitors to navigate the exhibition and aiming to increase interaction among industry professionals.

 

Deborah Rothe, Director of ITB Berlin, stated, “The adapted hall layout is not just a response to the dock9 construction. It also offers an opportunity to better align ITB Berlin with the needs of our international exhibitors and trade visitors and to make thematic focal points more visible.”

 

According to the organizers, the new concept will create clearer thematic areas, shorten walking distances, and further strengthen the content-driven structure of the world's largest tourism trade fair.

 

The dock9 Project at the Heart of the Transformation

 

The changes in the hall layout are directly linked to the new dock9 conference and event center, which will be built in place of the existing Hall 9.

 

While the demolition of Hall 9 is planned to begin in October 2026, dock9 will be one of the most significant investments in the long-term transformation projects of the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.

 

ITB Berlin management views this process as an opportunity to utilize existing spaces more efficiently and prepare the trade fair for future growth.

 

Planned in Collaboration with Exhibitors

 

The organizers are working in close cooperation with exhibitors affected by the relocation to identify suitable alternative spaces.

 

While the development of the hall layout plan is ongoing, final stand allocations are expected to be completed within the year.

 

Ramona Zaun, Head of Sales and Administration at ITB Berlin, stated, “Our goal was to involve our relevant business partners in the process as early as possible and to develop viable solutions together. As work on the hall plan is ongoing, stand placements will be finalized within the year. We will comprehensively support this process through updated hall plans, the wayfinding system at the exhibition grounds, the ITB app, and our digital communication channels.”

 

The new hall concept will be implemented for the first time at ITB Berlin 2027, which will take place from March 16-18, 2027.
