In Berlin-Friedrichshain, a 36-year-old person was attacked and subjected to racist insults during daylight hours.

According to a police statement, the 57-year-old suspect punched the 36-year-old man in the face several times without any warning on Saturday afternoon. It was stated that the suspect insulted the victim with racist remarks after the attack.

Police teams arriving at the scene identified the suspect. The suspect was later released. The injured 36-year-old, however, did not accept medical intervention.

The State Security unit of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office is continuing the investigation into the incident.
