Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that they would respond to the decisions taken against Russia due to the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) incident at Germany's Leipzig-Halle Airport, saying, "Berlin has once again chosen the path of escalating tensions in bilateral relations on a fabricated pretext."

Speaking to the Russian news agency TASS, Zakharova evaluated Germany's decision to take certain measures against Russia on the grounds that an explosive-laden UAV was found at Germany's Leipzig-Halle Airport.

Zakharova pointed out that Germany had not presented any evidence regarding the UAV incident and said:

"Berlin has once again chosen the path of escalating tensions in bilateral relations on a fabricated pretext. No serious evidence has been presented because there is no evidence and there cannot be. They fabricated a pretext. In contrast, Berlin has fueled the Ukraine crisis and engaged in terrorist acts against civilians. The Russian House has been bothering Berlin for a long time. For these reasons, they sought a pretext to act. Moscow will respond to all decisions taken against Russia."

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also stated to journalists regarding the issue, "It is difficult to comment on this because such serious accusations need to be supported by evidence. No evidence has been presented. Germany is following the path of increasing tension," he assessed.

The German government, today, had announced a series of measures, stating that the findings from the investigation into the discovery of an explosive-laden UAV at Leipzig-Halle Airport indicated Russia's responsibility.

According to the decision, Russia's Consulate General in Bonn will be closed as of September 18, the contract regarding the Russian House in Berlin will be terminated, entry controls for Russian citizens will be tightened, and pressure on Russia's so-called shadow fleet will be increased.
