In a statement made from the Schwaben Nord Police Department's account on the social media platform of the US-based X company, it was stated that an explosion occurred near the train station in Augsburg.

The statement added that the explosion caused disruptions in surrounding streets and public transportation.

The Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper reported that the explosion occurred next to a bank on Bahnhof Street, located opposite the train station.

The newspaper also reported that 2 people were injured in the explosion.
