Eralp, evaluating the results of the state parliament elections held in Berlin on September 20, stated that her initial feeling was "a great joy."

Eralp said, "I didn't expect it to be this good. I am very, very happy. Berliners showed that they trust me."

Eralp, stating that she received strong support especially from voters of immigrant origin, said, "All people, but especially people of immigrant origin, supported me greatly. This made me very happy. Now we will make Berlin a more livable place."

Muslims and Palestinians Feel Insufficiently Represented

Eralp rejected criticisms that her party was antisemitic and pressures from the government on this issue, noting that she wants to pursue a policy that includes all segments of society.

Eralp, stating that she wants to change current policies regarding the representation of Palestinians and Muslims in Germany, used the expressions, "Palestinians and Muslims do not feel sufficiently represented, and I think this is not the right policy. I see all people. Be they Muslim, Palestinian, or Jewish. The duty of politics is to see and represent different segments of society."

Eralp stated that she wants to pursue a common policy based on human rights.

Eralp, who particularly thanked voters of immigrant origin who cast their votes for her and stated that these segments are not sufficiently visible in current politics, stated that she wants to change this situation.

Eralp, stating that discrimination and racism were also among the issues raised during the election process and that she would fight against them, emphasized that people of immigrant origin who built Berlin together should also be seen, and that headscarf bans in public institutions should be lifted.

The Most Important Issue is Rent

Eralp stated that during the election campaign, Berliners complained to her most about rent prices and the high cost of living.

Eralp, stating that despite working and paying taxes in Berlin, people are struggling to make ends meet due to rising living costs, said, "People live in Berlin, work, pay their taxes, but they can no longer lead a good life. Because everything is very expensive."

Eralp, advocating for the reduction of rent prices, used the expression, "We want to lower rents and we want everyone to have a good, livable life here."

Eralp said that the main events that influenced her political outlook during her childhood and youth were the racist attacks and incidents that occurred in Germany in the 1990s.

Eralp recounted that during this period, she asked her family, "Since you also came from Turkey, will we also experience such things?" and explained that these experiences led her to fight for justice and against racism.

Thanked Her Family

Eralp, also touching upon the importance of her family's support during the election campaign, said that her mother and father were by her side, both materially and morally.

Eralp, stating that her mother also helped her with childcare during the campaign, thanked all her relatives, stating that her family in Turkey also supported her and prayed for her.
