Six Senses has opened Six Senses AMAALA, its second property in Saudi Arabia. Located on the Red Sea coast in a protected area surrounded by desert, mangrove forests, lagoons, and coral reefs, the resort offers guests a blend of nature, wellness, and sustainable tourism at the new wellness destination AMAALA.
Architecture in Harmony with Nature
The resort, situated within AMAALA, which spans over 4,100 square kilometers of protected coastal area, features 100 suites and villas, along with 25 branded residences. The design, inspired by traditional Saudi coastal architecture, was planned in harmony with the beaches, mangrove lagoons, and the impressive rocky plateau.
Neil Palmer, Six Senses Director of Operations, stated that the resort was designed with the understanding that guests can reconnect with themselves and nature, making well-being a natural part of their daily experience.
Wellness-Focused Accommodation
At the heart of the resort lies a comprehensive wellness concept. The Six Senses Spa includes a Longevity Center, Biohacking Recovery Lounge, Watsu pool, and Sound Dome, while the "Eat With Six Senses" nutrition program, architecture supporting sleep quality, personalized health consultations, yoga and fitness classes, retreat programs, cryotherapy, and PEMF therapy are also offered.
Bryce Seator, the General Manager, stated that their aim is to ensure guests feel better when they leave the property than when they arrived.
Healthy Gastronomy
The resort's restaurants embrace the "Eat With Six Senses" philosophy, preparing dishes with natural and fresh ingredients. The Soraya restaurant offers Japanese and Latin American cuisine with Red Sea views, while Joud focuses on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors. A coffee roasting house, bakery, and a culinary school introducing Saudi cuisine complete the gastronomic experience.
The property also implements a completely alcohol-free beverage concept, featuring fermented drinks, herbal infusions, probiotic tonics, and special mocktails.
Sustainability at the Forefront
AMAALA aims to be entirely powered by renewable energy and is pursuing LEED Platinum certification. The natural mangrove lagoon at the center of the resort can be explored via wooden walkways.
Guests can participate in sustainability workshops at the Earth Lab; special programs for children called "Grow With Six Senses" and introducing mangrove ecology are organized. Coral reefs, desert excursions, and the Corallium Marine Life Institute also offer nature-focused experiences.
Six Senses AMAALA is located approximately 45 minutes from AlWajh International Airport, or a short distance by seaplane. With the new resort, Six Senses has further strengthened its presence on the Red Sea and in the Middle East. Visual: © IHG
