The Turkish Community in Germany (TGD) called for solidarity with queer individuals against rising hate crimes. TGD emphasized that the fight for democracy and equality must be waged together.

TGD issued a statement due to the Christopher Street Day (CSD) event in Berlin. The statement expressed explicit support for the queer community. TGD noted that anti-queer sentiment and racism stem from the same understanding of hatred. A call was made for a common struggle against attacks targeting different identities.

TGD Co-Chair Mehtap Çağlar stated that far-right ideologies target social diversity. Çağlar added that these ideologies do not discriminate based on origin, religion, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Çağlar emphasized solidarity with the words, "No group is safe when another group is under attack. The struggle of the queer community is our struggle too."

According to the statement, data from counseling centers drew attention. Approximately 325 anti-queer violence incidents were recorded in 2025. However, it was noted that the actual number could be higher because many victims do not report their experiences.

TGD also drew attention to the recent increase in threats against CSD events. The reduction of public support for civil society organizations combating hate crimes was criticized. The statement emphasized that civil society needs long-term and robust support to protect democracy, equality, and human rights.
