Berlin police are searching for 21-year-old Abdul B., the suspect in yesterday's vehicle attack near an LGBT parade. Public assistance has been requested.
Berlin Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office issued a joint statement. The statement indicated that 21-year-old suspect Abdul B. injured several people with a vehicle yesterday around 10:00 PM in the Tiergarten district.
After the incident, one or more individuals exited the vehicle. It was noted that some people were injured with bladed weapons.
Police shared the suspect's physical description. Accordingly, the assailant is slender, approximately 1.90 meters tall, and has black hair. He was reportedly wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and white pants.
Investigation teams requested that individuals with information or footage related to the attack contact the police. Those with knowledge of the suspect's whereabouts were also asked to report it.
Authorities emphasized that if encountered, the wanted suspect should not be approached. A warning was issued that the suspect may be armed and dangerous. In such a situation, the emergency line "110" was requested to be called.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt made a written statement. Dobrindt described the attack as "abhorrent." He stated, "The attack has deeply shaken me. We will do everything in our power to shed light on this terrible crime and its underlying causes as quickly as possible."
In yesterday's attack near the LGBT parade in Berlin, 1 person died. A total of 16 people were injured, 3 of them seriously.
