Alternative Water Supply Benefits Sapanca Lake

Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKİ) is receiving positive results from the alternative sources it has implemented to reduce water stress in Sapanca Lake.

According to the statement made by SASKİ, the regular water supply provided from alternative sources has positively impacted Sapanca Lake's level.

The lake level was measured at 29.98 meters today. Last year, on July 27, 2025, this value was 29.95 meters. Thus, the lake level was recorded 3 centimeters higher compared to the same day last year.

The statement noted that, within the scope of water supply efforts, water transfer from Mollaköy Pond to Sapanca Lake began on July 12. The transferred water is instantly monitored with periodic analyses conducted using 44 parameters.

In this context, it was confirmed by all tests that the transferred water sample is potable. Samples are taken at specific intervals from the water pumped from the pond and from the point where the water reaches the lake.

Samples are analyzed across 44 different parameters, including physical, chemical, and microbiological, within the scope of the "Regulation on the Quality and Treatment of Waters Supplied for Drinking Water" and the "Regulation on Waters for Human Consumption."

With the controls carried out, the quality of the water transferred from the alternative source is continuously ensured. Thanks to the pumping system and new transmission line implemented by SASKİ, water taken from the pond is conveyed to the lake via a 7-kilometer route. With this integration, 80,000 cubic meters of water are delivered to the lake daily.
