National athlete and freediving world record holder Şahika Ercümen secured first place at the Freediving Sea Open Water Seniors and Masters Individual Turkey Championship and National Team Selections held in Antalya.
Ercümen, who participated in the event held off the coast of Kaş, reached the top with her 68-meter dive in the Constant Weight (CWT) category. The national athlete's 2-minute 35-second performance brought her the Turkey championship.
The event, which brought together Turkey's leading freediving athletes, was attended by 22 licensed athletes. In the four-day championship, athletes will compete in different disciplines, aiming for both the Turkey championship and a spot in the national team squad.
