Constitutional Court (AYM) President Kadir Özkaya met with Waleed Mohammed Al Smani, Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and his accompanying delegation.
According to a statement from the AYM, Minister Al Smani and his delegation are in Turkey as guests of the Ministry of Justice. The meeting took place at the High Court.
During the reception, the deep-rooted friendship and brotherhood relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia were emphasized. It was stated that strong relations based on mutual respect and trust positively reflected on cooperation in the legal and judicial fields.
It was noted that the historical and cultural proximity connecting the two countries forms an important basis for developing inter-institutional relations. These visits were assessed to enhance communication and experience sharing among judicial institutions.
During the meeting, cooperation topics in the legal and judicial fields were discussed. Views were exchanged on the importance of institutional experience sharing and opportunities for joint work.
AYM President Özkaya provided information about the structure, duties, and powers of the High Court. The functioning of the individual application system, as well as the international organizations of which AYM is a member and its constitutional justice activities, were also conveyed.
AYM Vice Presidents Basri Bağcı and İrfan Fidan attended the meeting. Constitutional Court Member Muhterem İnce was also present. Mohammad Sulaiman Almutlaq, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fahad bin Assaad Abu Al-Nasr, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Ankara, and Murat Azaklı, AYM Secretary General, were among the other officials present at the meeting.
