Ahead of the 20th Berlin House of Representatives (Abgeordnetenhaus) and District Assemblies (BVV) elections, which will be held in Berlin on September 20, 2026, the Turkish Community of Berlin-Brandenburg, Türkische Bund in Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. (TBB), is launching a comprehensive campaign to increase voter turnout.
The campaign, which particularly aims for more active participation in the election process by Berliners of Turkish origin and young people voting for the first time, was announced to the public five weeks before the elections.
TBB to Conduct Information Activities in Streets and Workplaces
Within the scope of the campaign to be carried out by the Turkish Community of Berlin-Brandenburg TBB, citizens will be directly reached in the streets and workplaces. Information will be provided on how elections work, the voting process, and their importance for Berlin's future.
The first event of the campaign will take place on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 5:00 PM, and the second event on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 3:00 PM.
The meeting point for both activities will be in front of TBB's central office in Berlin, located at Oranienstraße 53, 10969 Berlin.
Special Information for First-Time Voters
In addition to face-to-face activities, the Turkish Community of Berlin-Brandenburg TBB will also provide information to voters through its newsletter and social media channels. Special emphasis will be placed on informing first-time voters about the Berlin election system and the voting process.
As part of the campaign, question and demand documents, called “Wahlprüfsteine”, which contain demands deemed important by the Turkish Community of Berlin-Brandenburg TBB, were also sent to the political parties participating in the elections. It was announced that the parties' responses would be shared with the public later.

“Elections are of Great Importance for Berlin’s Future”
TBB emphasized that it is of great importance for all voters living in Berlin to have sufficient information about the elections and their impact on the capital's social, economic, and political development in the coming years.
The statement also called on Berliners to uphold democracy and ensure high participation in the elections. TBB drew attention to the importance of democratic voters going to the polls, especially against the rise of right-wing populism and the far-right, stating that high voter turnout will contribute to strengthening democratic representation in Berlin.
Berlin Goes to the Polls on September 20
On September 20, 2026, voters in Berlin will go to the polls to elect both members of the Berlin House of Representatives and members of the Bezirksverordnetenversammlung (BVV) who will serve in the districts.
The campaign launched by TBB aims to encourage stronger participation in democratic processes, especially among citizens of immigrant origin and Berliners of Turkish origin.
