The Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that Germany had taken certain measures against Russia following the discovery of an explosive-laden UAV at Leipzig-Halle Airport.

Following this development, Bernd Finke, Chargé d'Affaires of the German Embassy in Moscow, was summoned to the ministry. The Russian side rejected the accusations leveled against it.

The ministry's statement emphasized that Berlin had taken steps to completely undermine bilateral relations. The statement included the remarks: "Berlin deliberately resorted to provocation aimed at escalating the situation in Russia-Germany relations. The actions of the German government will be met with a harsh response."

The Incident

On August 4, a UAV was found at Germany's Leipzig-Halle Airport. This UAV, near a Ukrainian transport plane, was assessed to contain an explosive device.

US intelligence claimed that the characteristics of the discovered explosive-laden UAV were "specific" to Russian military intelligence.

The German government stated yesterday that investigation findings pointed to Russia as responsible. Following this, a series of measures were announced.

Among the announced measures, Russia's Consulate General in Bonn will be closed on September 18. The contract related to the Russian House in Berlin will be terminated. Entry controls for Russian citizens will be tightened, and pressure on Russia's "shadow fleet" will be increased.
