In a statement on his social media account, Medvedev commented on Germany's decision to take certain measures against Russia on the grounds that an explosive-laden UAV was found at Leipzig-Halle Airport.

Medvedev emphasized that Germany's accusations regarding the UAV were baseless and stated that the German administration was displaying an approach against Russia. Medvedev used the expression, "They (the Germans) deserve a direct attack on facilities producing military equipment for the Bandera regime, and even other places in Berlin."

Medvedev also made evaluations regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's threat against Russian civil aviation. He said, "One does not negotiate with terrorists; their actions are met with retaliation. All forms of terrorism have sponsors. Currently, these are the leaders of Western countries, especially European countries. They frequently travel to Kyiv by train."

The Incident

On August 4, a UAV believed to contain an explosive device was found near a Ukrainian transport plane at Leipzig-Halle Airport in Germany.

US intelligence had claimed that the characteristics of the found explosive-laden UAV were "specific" to Russian military intelligence.

Yesterday, the German government announced a series of measures, stating that findings from the investigation into the incident indicated Russia was responsible.

According to the decision, Russia's Consulate General in Bonn will be closed as of September 18, the contract related to the Russian House in Berlin will be terminated, entry controls for Russian citizens will be tightened, and pressure on Russia's so-called shadow fleet will be increased.
