Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that they would respond to Germany's decisions against Russia regarding the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) incident at Leipzig-Halle Airport. Zakharova said, "Berlin has once again chosen the path of escalating tensions in bilateral relations under a fabricated pretext."

Speaking to the Russian news agency TASS, Zakharova evaluated Germany's decision to take certain measures against Russia on the grounds that an explosive-laden UAV was found at Leipzig-Halle Airport.

Zakharova pointed out that Germany had not presented any evidence regarding the UAV incident, stating:

"Berlin has once again chosen the path of escalating tensions in bilateral relations under a fabricated pretext. No serious evidence has been presented because there is no evidence, nor can there be. They fabricated an excuse. In contrast, Berlin has fueled the Ukraine crisis and been involved in terrorist acts against civilians. The Russian House has long bothered Berlin. For these reasons, they sought an excuse to act. Moscow will respond to all decisions taken against Russia."

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also made a statement to journalists on the matter. Peskov commented, "It's difficult to comment on this because such serious accusations need to be supported by evidence. No evidence has been presented. Germany is pursuing a path of increasing tension."

The German government today announced a series of measures, stating that findings from the investigation into the discovery of an explosive-laden UAV at Leipzig-Halle Airport indicated Russia's responsibility.

According to the decisions taken, Russia's Consulate General in Bonn will be closed as of September 18. The contract related to the Russian House in Berlin will be terminated. Entry controls for Russian citizens will be tightened, and pressure on Russia's so-called shadow fleet will be increased.
