The 33rd anniversary of the Madımak Massacre, which took place in Sivas on July 2, 1993, was commemorated in Cologne, Germany. Hundreds of people gathered at an event organized at the call of the North Rhine-Westphalia Regional Representation of the Federation of Alevi Unions in Germany (AABF). Participants gathered next to Cologne Cathedral and remembered the 33 people who lost their lives with respect and longing, demanding justice.

AABF executives, Alevi institutions, democratic mass organizations, and numerous citizens attended the commemoration program. Participants called for the memory of the 33 people who lost their lives at the Madımak Hotel to be kept alive and for justice to be served by shedding light on all aspects of the incident.
In the speeches, it was emphasized that the Madımak Massacre was a grave crime against humanity. It was stated that the failure to fully achieve justice despite the 33 years that have passed is a deep wound in the public conscience.

During the event, slogans such as "We have not forgotten, we will not let it be forgotten" and "Justice for Sivas, justice for everyone" were frequently chanted. Participants stated that the struggle for truth and justice would be continued with determination, emphasizing that the 33 lives lost in Madımak would not be forgotten.

The commemoration program in Cologne concluded after a moment of silence and speeches. Participants once again shared their demands for justice with the public.
