At the commemoration program held in Munich for the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, martyrs were remembered, and gratitude was expressed to veterans. Hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Munich, the program highlighted democracy, national will, unity, and solidarity.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Munich organized a meaningful commemoration program within the scope of the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. Representatives of non-governmental organizations, academics, press members, and numerous guests attended the program held at the Consulate General's residence.

Program Began with a Moment of Silence and Quran Recitation

The commemoration program began with a moment of silence and the recitation of the National Anthem. Subsequently, Tarık Korkmaz, Religious Official of Munich Miraç Mosque, recited the Holy Quran. During the emotional ceremony, the July 15 martyrs were remembered with prayers, and feelings of gratitude and appreciation were expressed to the veterans.

Emphasis on Democracy and National Will

Speaking at the program, İsmail Pamuk, UID Bavaria Regional President, stated that July 15 was a historical turning point where the Turkish nation embraced its democracy and national will. Pamuk drew attention to the importance of preserving the spirit of unity and solidarity under all circumstances.

Hakan Akduman, MÜSİAD Munich Deputy Chairman, stated that the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood displayed on the night of July 15 holds great significance for Turkey's future. Akduman emphasized the importance of passing on the consciousness of national unity to future generations.

Consul General Süalp Erdoğan: "July 15 is the Nation's Victory"

Süalp Erdoğan, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Munich, stated in his speech that on the night of July 15, 2016, the Turkish nation demonstrated an exemplary stance to the entire world by protecting its democracy, constitutional order, and state.

Erdoğan underlined that the national will is above all forms of tutelage, stating that July 15 was not only the day a coup attempt was thwarted but also a historical turning point when the nation declared to the world its commitment to its independence and common future.

"Reading the Future from July 15" Presentation Attracted Interest

The program's speaker, Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik, Rector of Istanbul Medeniyet University, evaluated the significance of July 15 for Turkey's recent history from various perspectives in his presentation titled "Reading the Future from July 15." Participants followed the presentation with interest.

Documentary Screening Evoked Emotion

As part of the commemoration program, a screening prepared by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, depicting the treacherous July 15 coup attempt and the nation's struggle for democracy, was held. The documentary screening led to emotional moments in the hall.

Sapling Planted in Memory of 10th Anniversary

As part of the program, a sapling planting ceremony was held at the Consulate General's residence in memory of the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.

In the ceremony held to keep alive the cherished memory of democracy martyrs and to symbolize the spirit of unity and solidarity, saplings were planted by Consul General Süalp Erdoğan, Çağatay Himmetoğlu and Amine Dilara Kölün representing UID Bayern Youth Branches, and Miraç Dursun and Kübra Çeker representing MÜSİAD Munich Youth Branches.

At the end of the program, Consul General Süalp Erdoğan thanked İsmail Pamuk, UID Bavaria Regional President, Osman Oygur, MÜSİAD Munich President, the youth branches of both organizations, Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik, press members working in Munich, and representatives of non-governmental organizations who attended the program for their contributions to the organization.

The commemoration program concluded after messages of commitment to democracy, protection of national will, and social unity were conveyed.
