The Public Service Training Preparation Program (AVÖD), organized by BWK BildungsWerk operating in Berlin's Kreuzberg district, the capital of Germany, has been successfully completed. Trainees who graduated from the program received their certificates at a ceremony, while attention was drawn to the importance of training qualified personnel for the future of public institutions.
The certificate ceremony was attended by Berlin State Senator for Labour, Social Affairs and Equality Cansel Kızıltepe, President of the Berlin Higher Regional Court Dr. Andrea Diekmann, Deputy Chief of the Berlin Police Force Marco Langner, representatives of the Berlin Police Academy, Senate officials, trainers, and trainees.

BWK BildungsWerk General Manager Nihat Sorgeç began his speech by greeting the participants, thanking the Berlin Senate Administration for its trust in the institution, and stating that it was a great source of pride for them to conduct the public service preparation training for the 17th time.
Sorgeç stated that the training program not only contributes to individual career goals but also made the following assessment:
"With this program, we are not only investing in the professional future of our participants. We are also investing in the future of Berlin. Every participant who successfully completes their training will strengthen public administration, the police force, the judiciary, and security institutions; they will contribute to increasing citizens' trust in a strong and effective state."
Demographic change increases the need for new personnel in public service
Sorgeç stated that the demographic change in Germany has created a significant need for personnel in public institutions, reminding that approximately one-third of public employees will retire within the next decade.
Therefore, Sorgeç stated that training a new generation of public servants has become a necessity, not just an option, and emphasized that qualified personnel are critically important for the sustainability of public service.

Sorgeç also thanked the employees of the Berlin Senate Administration who contributed to the preparation of the program, stating that the project was implemented with great dedication, professionalism, and foresight.
Sorgeç stated that the training program goes far beyond a classic vocational course, describing it as a long-term investment in Berlin's future.

Sorgeç pointed out that Berlin is a dynamic metropolis where different cultures coexist, and highlighted the importance of public institutions reflecting this diversity.
Sorgeç emphasized the need for young people who are willing to serve society, responsible, and well-educated, stating that the knowledge, experience, and cultural background of individuals from different origins will make public service stronger and more inclusive.
Recalled Willy Brandt's words
At the end of his speech, Nihat Sorgeç recalled the words of former German Chancellor Willy Brandt, "The best way to predict the future is to create it," and stated that the training program was implemented with precisely this understanding.
Addressing the participants, Sorgeç stated that the new generation who will take on responsibilities in public service is of great importance for Berlin's security, stability, and sustainable future, and made the following call to young people:
"Today, you are perhaps taking the first step on a journey where you will undertake important responsibilities for our society. Seize this opportunity with determination, courage, and curiosity. We will work together to carry Berlin into the future as a strong, safe, and livable city."
Sorgeç concluded his speech by thanking the Berlin Senate Administration for its years of cooperation and trust, and also thanked all his colleagues who contributed to the preparation of the training program.

Hundreds of different career opportunities in public service
Kızıltepe stated that the public sector is not limited to just a few well-known professions, but encompasses a large number of different professions and specialized fields.
The Senator pointed out that young people often do not know which professions exist in public administration, saying, "When public service is mentioned, usually only a few professions like automotive technician or physiotherapist come to mind. However, the public sector offers a much wider and more diverse range of career options. It is very important for young people to learn how the administrative system works."
Public service preparation courses contribute to success
Kızıltepe emphasized that the Public Service Preparation Training Program (Ausbildungsvorbereitung Öffentlicher Dienst) is therefore of great importance, stating that the Berlin Senate continues to strongly support the program.
Kızıltepe stated that the program offers an important preparation process for young people unfamiliar with the workings of public administration, and that these trainings are a significant step for those wishing to pursue a career in public institutions.
"Diversity is Berlin's greatest strength"
Senator Cansel Kızıltepe pointed out that approximately 49% of Berlin's population has a migration background, stating that public institutions should also reflect this societal diversity.
Kızıltepe said, "We aim to reach all young people, with or without a migration background, who have different life stories," and continued:
"Berlin is a multicultural city. We want this diversity to be represented in public administration as well. Diversity is not just a goal for us, but also an important responsibility that we must fulfill."
Kızıltepe stated that the Participation Act (Partizipationsgesetz) is an important step that strengthens the equal participation of individuals with a migration background in public life, and emphasized that these policies will be pursued with determination.
