Mustafa and Hediye Avşar, a couple who have been cattle breeding for 40 years in Adana's Ceyhan district, experienced great joy with the triplet calves their cow gave birth to in a single delivery. This "one-in-100,000" case brought abundance to the couple's life.

60-year-old Mustafa Avşar and his wife Hediye Avşar, who are engaged in animal husbandry in Esentepe Neighborhood, had their 6-year-old Holstein cow artificially inseminated with the support of a veterinarian.

The pregnant cow gave birth to three calves in a single delivery last month.

The Avşar couple named the rare calves after their grandchildren Tülin, Tuana, and Taner. The couple carefully feeds the calves with bottles in addition to their mother's milk.

Mustafa Avşar stated that he has been involved in animal husbandry for 40 years. Avşar, who said he was very surprised by the cow giving birth to triplets, used the expressions, "This is the first time it has happened to me, I was very happy. I thanked my God. This is sustenance given by God, it is a blessing."

Avşar, stating that they look after the calves like babies, said, "Each one is like a baby. My wife and I wake up at 12 or 1 AM to feed them so they don't go hungry. We give them milk with a bottle. There's special whey, we give them that. I give them sugary tea. May God bless my wife, she's raising 3 children."

His wife Hediye Avşar also emphasized that she takes care of the calves day and night. Avşar said, "If the calves don't eat, sometimes I give it to them with a syringe, then I switch to a bottle. I kiss them, I love them, I give them milk. I give them water and graze them, as long as they eat."

Veterinarian Ahmet Mert, who works with the cattle breeding couple, pointed out that cows giving birth to triplets is rare. Mert said, "Scientifically, it's an event seen once in 100,000. I used Holstein and Simental sperm in the treatment. Most of the time, animals may not come into heat. Normally, animals come into heat every 20 days. Sometimes, the animals' eggs don't form or develop. Therefore, we can provide external treatment support. Beyond the application we made here, it is, of course, very important for our breeder to look after and feed the animal."
