Safranbolu's Maniye Tomato Harvest Begins: 100 TL Per Kilo

The harvest of geographically indicated Maniye tomatoes, grown in Safranbolu district of Karabük, has begun.

Maniye tomato, one of Karabük's important agricultural products, is carefully cultivated by farmers. This tomato, which has a strong aroma with its unique scent, segmented structure, and distinct anther characteristics, yields approximately 2 tons per decare. It is offered for sale in markets at 100 liras per kilogram.

Saffet Doğruyol, 46, who grows Maniye tomatoes on an 8-decare plot in Konarı village, stated that he practices "good and organic farming" in his garden. Doğruyol announced that the Maniye tomato harvest has begun, saying, "The harvest of our Maniye tomatoes has started. Maniye tomato is unique to Safranbolu, an heirloom seed, our local variety. It's a delicious, tangy, juicy, and thin-skinned tomato variety."

Doğruyol noted that he cultivates Maniye tomatoes on a large area. He said, "Since we practice organic and good farming, we produce without chemicals. Due to increasing demand every year, we started cultivating on a larger area. Today, we grow tomatoes on an 8-decare plot. We sell Maniye tomatoes for 100 liras. We sell them in public markets and online. We also meet the demands of guests who visit our garden. Depending on care and climate conditions, Maniye tomatoes typically weigh between 300 grams and 1.5 kilograms."
