Salih Özcan: Victory Against Midtjylland Is a Source of Pride

In the first leg of the UEFA Europa League 2nd qualifying round, Beşiktaş defeated Danish side Midtjylland 1-0 at home. After the match, the Black Eagles' midfielder Salih Özcan expressed his happiness with the victory and his desire to win the return leg as well.

The 28-year-old footballer answered questions from the press after the match played at Tüpraş Stadium.

Salih Özcan, impressed by the atmosphere created by the fans, stated, "I knew it would be a great atmosphere. It was truly an incredible atmosphere. Winning the first match is a proud feeling. That's why I'm very happy."

The experienced player stated that he has adapted to the team, saying, "I've adapted well to the team. I already know most of them from the national team. The team welcomed me well. I think the training camp also went well."

Salih Özcan reiterated his happiness with the victory, stating, "We are happy to have won. If we had scored 2-3 more goals, we would go into the second leg more comfortably. I generally think it will be a tough match. Our opponent is a quality team. We saw that today. We will give our 100% and return home with a victory."

The experienced footballer emphasized that he found the team's overall performance very good. Özcan said, "We controlled the game well for 90 minutes. There were chances. If we had scored 2-3 more goals, it would have been more comfortable. But we have to accept it as it is. We will give our 100% in the second leg as well."

To a question about his on-field coordination with Orkun Kökçü, Salih Özcan replied, "My position is number 6. I also want to score goals and make assists. First and foremost, the team is important. The team winning is important. That's what happened today. I'm happy about that, and hopefully, it will continue."
