President Doğan: Samsun's 36th International Folk Dance Festival Begins

The 36th International Samsun Folk Dance Festival, organized by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, has begun.

In addition to Turkey, folk dance teams from Mexico, Serbia, Adygea Republic, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Slovakia, and Georgia participated in the festival. During the opening parade, the teams performed as they walked for approximately 2 kilometers.

Following the colorful parade, the teams presented their performances in the area set up in front of Çobanlı Pier.

Metropolitan Mayor Halit Doğan stated that they are organizing the 36th edition of the festival. Doğan noted that they are bringing together cultures from different geographies of the world in Samsun.

President Doğan stated that the festival enables intercultural togetherness. He said that people get to know cultures from different countries here and meet people from every nation. Doğan emphasized that the event highlights Samsun as a harmonious city. He noted that this allows cultures to get to know each other and also promotes Samsun. He reminded that Samsun is a city where the War of Independence began and is famous for its hospitality. He added that the participating teams wish to return next year.

Doğan emphasized that some countries are participating in this year's festival for the first time. He expressed his wish for participants to leave Samsun with beautiful feelings and memories. He stated that the people of Samsun have shown great support and interest in the festival. He added that many citizens from surrounding provinces also came to the festival.
