In Germany, the number of unemployed remained above the 3 million mark in August. Despite recent positive economic signals, stagnation in the labor market continued.

The German Federal Employment Agency (BA) announced the unemployment figures for August.

Accordingly, the number of unemployed in the country increased by 54,000 people compared to the previous month and by 36,000 people compared to the same month last year, reaching 3.061 million in August.

The country's unemployment rate, which was 6.4 percent in July, rose to 6.5 percent in August.

Andrea Nahles, Head of the Federal Employment Agency, stated that the sluggish trend in the labor market continued in recent months. Nahles said, "The labor market did not show significant dynamism in August beyond traditional seasonal effects."

In Germany, the number of unemployed had exceeded the 3 million threshold for the first time since April in July, with the start of the summer holiday period.

Experts state that the consistent increase in unemployment observed since July is due to seasonal effects as well as cyclical weakness in the economy.

It is anticipated that increasing growth signals in the economy could positively impact the labor market in the future.
