Police intervene in Rheinmetall protest in Berlin

In Berlin, the capital of Germany, police intervened harshly against activists protesting Rheinmetall, a company producing ammunition for Israel. More than 30 activists, supporting the group Peacefully Against Genocide, wanted to stage a demonstration near the Rheinmetall facility in Berlin's Wedding district. Police intervened against pro-Palestinian activists who wanted to hold a sit-in on the street. Police forcibly removed the activists to the sidewalk. Taking extensive security measures in front of the facility, police detained activists, reverse-handcuffed some protesters, and conducted identity checks. A group, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, held a demonstration on the opposite side of the street. The demonstrators chanted slogans such as "Freedom for Palestine," "Freedom for Gaza," "Your weapons kill children," and "Your weapons, your money commit murder in the world." In recent months, various protests have been held in front of the Rheinmetall facility in Berlin's Wedding district, citing the company's production of ammunition for Israel, and a march attended by thousands of people also took place on July 11.
