Tarsus Nature Park Population Grows with New Births

The animal population at Tarsus Nature Park in Mersin has increased with new births.

According to a statement from the Metropolitan Municipality, many animals, including ponies, donkeys, gazelles, antelopes, horses, zebras, lemurs, hyenas, baboons, and spider monkeys, gave birth during the year.

The offspring born in the park are cared for under veterinary supervision.

Sibel Mazlum, a veterinarian at Tarsus Nature Park, stated that the young animals have started meeting visitors. Mazlum said, "Every birth is a successful indicator that our animals live in healthy conditions and that our care, nutrition, and veterinary health services are effective."

Mazlum noted that the young animals are monitored 24 hours a day by experts. She added, "Successful births in some species are of great importance for the conservation of biodiversity. Visitors can observe our newborn offspring in environments suitable for their natural lives and have both an enjoyable and educational day."
