Ertuğrul Altan Drowns After Falling into Kızılırmak River in Kırıkkale

37-year-old Ertuğrul Altan drowned after falling into the Kızılırmak River in the picnic area on Yeşil Vadi Street in Kırıkkale's Bahşılı district.

According to information received, an argument that broke out between Altan and Ö.Y. (29) and D.Y. (34) while they were drinking alcohol turned into a fight.

During the argument, Altan, who was trying to get away from the area, lost his balance and fell into the Kızılırmak River.

Following a report, police, health, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene.

Altan could not be found in the initial searches conducted around the river. Thereupon, the Ankara Provincial Police Department Underwater Search and Rescue team was dispatched to the region.

Police divers found Altan's body 10 meters from the shore after a half-hour operation.

Altan's body, which was brought ashore by the teams, was taken to the morgue of Kırıkkale High Specialization Hospital after examination.

The police procedures for Ö.Y. and D.Y., who were taken into custody in connection with the incident, are ongoing.
