According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Turkey's exports increased by 4% in January-August this year compared to the same period last year, rising from $177.9 billion to $185 billion.
Turkey made its highest exports to Germany in the January-August period of this year. Exports to Germany in the said period reached $13 billion 576 million 381 thousand, with an increase of 3.8%.
Germany, which received the most exports in the said period, was followed by the USA with $9 billion 636.6 million, the United Kingdom with $9 billion 219.3 million, Italy with $8 billion 561.6 million, Spain with $7 billion 238.9 million, and France with $6 billion 925.8 million.
In the January-August period, exports increased year-on-year by 12.9% in the USA, 2.6% in the United Kingdom, 4.3% in Italy, 7.4% in Spain, and 5.2% in France.
Most exports to Germany from Istanbul in this period
In the said period, the highest exports to Germany were realized from Istanbul. Exports from Istanbul-based companies to Germany increased by 1% compared to the same period last year, rising to $5 billion 235.9 million.
Istanbul was followed by Bursa with $1 billion 988.1 million, Kocaeli with $1 billion 552.8 million, Izmir with $979.7 million, and Ankara with $734.7 million.
The sector that realized the most exports to Germany was recorded as the automotive industry.
The automotive industry's exports to Germany increased by 2.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching $4 billion 441.3 million.
One of the notable increases in exports to Germany was observed in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector
Following the automotive industry, the ready-to-wear and apparel sector realized the most exports to Germany. Exports from the ready-to-wear and apparel sector to Germany amounted to $1 billion 610.9 million in the January-August period.
In the said period, exports from the iron and non-ferrous metals sector to Germany increased by 13.2% to $1 billion 187.5 million, exports from the electrical and electronics sector rose by 8.5% to $969.8 million, and exports from the chemical products and derivatives sector increased by 11% to $965.6 million.
Exports of machinery and parts to Germany increased by 9.9% to $751.6 million, HVAC industry exports rose by 10% to $555.8 million, and steel sector exports increased by 6.3% to $548.1 million.
One of the notable increases in exports to Germany was observed in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector. The sector's exports to Germany increased by 47.9% in January-August compared to the same period last year, rising from $182.9 million to $270.6 million.
