TÜBİTAK Science High School Excels in YKS: 7 Students in Top 100

TÜBİTAK Science High School drew attention with its 2026 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) results. The high school, which trains qualified scientist candidates in fundamental sciences, information technologies, software, aviation, and space technologies through its special education program, stood out with its students' successful ranks. The school aims to raise productive, problem-solving generations in line with the "National Technology Initiative."

The high school achieved significant success in the YKS. With 7 students entering the top hundred, 12 ranks were obtained. Additionally, a total of 58 ranks were secured with 32 students in the top thousand.

Hacı Ahmet Yıldırım, Principal of TÜBİTAK Science High School, stated that they are reaping the fruits of the 5-year process they spent with their students.

Yıldırım emphasized that these results are proof of a productive 5-year process. "One of the most important indicators of this was sending our students off to good universities. Seeing the children go to good universities by adding something to themselves made us happy. Hopefully, after the university preferences are finalized, a large majority of them will have gone to their desired schools," he stated.

Yıldırım expressed his happiness regarding the achievements. He noted that these ranks are important for the high school's mission.

"6 of Our Students Not in the Top Thousand Have Direct University Admission Rights"

Yıldırım, stating that the students had a good preparation year, said they reaped the rewards of their efforts. "We have 7 students who entered the top hundred and 12 ranks; 3 of our ranks came from the Field Proficiency Test (AYT) numerical section. We also have 32 students in the top thousand. They achieved 58 ranks, and 23 of them came from the AYT numerical section. These figures are important for people to form an idea. Our other students also achieved very good ranks," he said.

Yıldırım emphasized the high school's mission of training qualified scientists. He stated that science olympiads and project work significantly contribute to university admission.

"6 of our students who are not in the top thousand have direct university admission rights due to their achievements in International Science Olympiads and competitions. Additionally, 16 of our students will receive additional coefficient points in addition to their placement scores, thanks to their achievements in science olympiads and project competitions. This means they will be placed in their desired departments. This is a beautiful fruit of their efforts over a 5-year period," he said.

Yıldırım emphasized that the discipline instilled in students positively reflected on their exam performance. "We are talking about the top 100 and top 1000 in an exam taken by millions of people. Our students gained significant discipline throughout their 5 years of education and saw positive results at an important stage of their lives, such as the university entrance exam. Hopefully, they will see the rewards when the university preferences are finalized," he said.

Yıldırım stated that they would continue education in line with the goal of training qualified scientists. He added that the first graduates from the school paved a significant path for those who followed.
