TÜBİTAK Science High School's Deniz Tepe: Computer Engineering Goal

Deniz Tepe, a TÜBİTAK Science High School student who entered the top 100 in the numerical field of the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), aims to study computer engineering.

TÜBİTAK Science High School, with its special education program, trains qualified scientist candidates in the fields of basic sciences, information technologies, software, aviation, and space technologies. The high school attracted attention with its students' successful results in the 2026 YKS.

Deniz Tepe, one of the first graduates of TÜBİTAK Science High School, which aims to contribute to the National Technology Move, showed outstanding success in the exam. Tepe ranked 65th in Turkey in the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) and 15th in Turkey in the numerical field of the Field Proficiency Test (AYT).

Tepe also ranked 19th in Turkey in the Foreign Language Test.

After graduation, Tepe returned to his family in Çanakkale and plans to study computer engineering.

Deniz Tepe told an AA reporter that he approached the exams as a student who prepared by listening in class and fulfilling his responsibilities.

Tepe stated that he laid a foundation by reviewing the topics covered in school, learning in class, and asking his teachers again about parts he didn't understand, and continued:

"My full commitment to the YKS process was in my last two years. Throughout my exam preparation, I never learned any topic from scratch. I always tried to take what my teachers explained in class and integrate it into my own understanding, and then I was able to successfully manage the exam process without getting into a much more intense pace."

Deniz Tepe said that he had initially set out wanting the Computer Engineering Department at Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) but his plans later changed.

Tepe noted that he had the opportunity to get to know other schools during his visits, and added:

"I have wanted to study computer engineering since middle school. When I visited Koç University and spoke with the students there, I realized that Koç University could truly offer me more in this field compared to other universities, so I am currently considering applying there. I will apply for the 100% scholarship program. I believe I will get in with my ranking. Currently, our family is very excited. Let's hope for a good outcome."

Tepe advised his fellow students who are about to take the exam or whose exam process is about to begin not to give up working to achieve their long-term goals.
