President Mirziyoyev: Uzbekistan's Economy Grew by 8.5%

Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke at a meeting where the economic results for the first half of the year were discussed. Mirziyoyev stated that the country's economy grew by 8.5% in this period compared to the same period last year.

According to Mirziyoyev's statement, in the first half of the year, the agricultural sector grew by 4.7%, industrial production by 8%, the construction sector by 13.8%, and the services sector by 16.9%. In the same period, the country's investment volume reached 28 billion dollars, and exports reached 14.4 billion dollars.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized that annual economic growth needs to be increased to 9-10% to raise the living standards of the population of approximately 40 million. He noted that to achieve this goal, regional and sector managers must utilize all available opportunities in the most efficient way.

Mirziyoyev, drawing attention to the uncertainties in the global economy, stated that all ministries and local governments must prepare alternative scenarios against potential risks.

He also added that more financial resources are being allocated to develop entrepreneurship and social infrastructure in the regions to mitigate the impact of global economic fluctuations.

Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and Finance had previously raised its 2026 growth forecast from 6.6% to 8.1%.

Uzbekistan's economy, which grew annually by 5-6% before the COVID-19 pandemic, recorded growth of 1.6% in 2020, 7% in 2021, 5.7% in 2022, 6% in 2023, 6.7% in 2024, and 7.7% in 2025.
