French Government Spokesperson Maud Bregeon made a statement about fuel aid after the Council of Ministers meeting.

Bregeon stated that the duration of aid provided to the sectors most affected by the fuel price increase caused by the crisis in the Middle East could be extended. This support, which has been ongoing for approximately four months, was set to expire on August 31.

Bregeon said, "The government is working on renewing aid to the sectors that consume the most fuel and are most affected (by the crisis)."

The government had announced a 70 million euro aid package against the fuel price increase caused by the war that began with the US-Israel attacks on Iran. This package covered the most affected sectors such as road transport, fishing, and agriculture.

The aid was initially planned to be "limited to April, sector-specific, target-oriented, and staggered." However, since the expected drop in prices did not occur, the implementation period was extended repeatedly.

The Strait of Hormuz tension, triggered by the war between the US-Israel and Iran, had caused a crisis in energy markets. This tension affects the access of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) production in the Middle East to world markets.
