Söder spoke at the traditional Gillamoos festival held in Abensberg.

Söder stated that Russia poses a constant threat to Germany and Europe. In his speech, he used the expressions, "But you could trust the Americans. Can we still do that today?"

Söder noted that he has great admiration for the values represented by the US. However, he stated that he can no longer understand some of Washington's strategic decisions.

Söder explained the reasons for strengthening the German army: "Because we can no longer understand them (the US), because we don't know if they are 100 percent on our side, and because they probably no longer have enough ammunition to protect us, we are currently strengthening the German army."

Emphasizing that Germany is strengthening its army "more than ever," Söder noted the importance of material and manpower to protect freedom.

Söder used the expression, "Anyone who loves a country, wants to protect a country, and is in favor of freedom and democracy, should also be ready to serve their country."
