Residents living on ground floors were evacuated due to floods that occurred in Kastamonu's Cide district.
According to a statement from the Governorship, following the intense rainfall warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the Disaster Working Groups of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP) went on alert in the city. Construction equipment, vehicles, and personnel were deployed to risky areas in coastal districts such as Cide, Doğanyurt, İnebolu, Abana, Bozkurt, and Çatalzeytin by the DSI 23rd Regional Directorate, the General Directorate of Highways 15th Regional Directorate, Kastamonu Regional Directorate of Forestry, AFAD Provincial Directorate, and Kastamonu Provincial Special Administration.
Around 04:00 in Cide district, more than 150 houses, workplaces, and warehouses were submerged. Some vehicles were stranded in water accumulations. No loss of life occurred in the flood. Residents on ground floors were evacuated to safe areas. Those who requested were placed in dormitories in the district center.
With the decrease in rainfall and water levels, transportation in the district returned to normal. Following the floods, cleanup efforts were immediately launched in the district center. 84 personnel are participating in these efforts. In these operations, 7 vacuum trucks, 18 motor pumps, 6 submersible pumps, and 3 boats, as well as numerous construction machines and vehicles, are being used. TAMP disaster groups are continuing their work in the district center.
