SPD Member of the Bundestag Macit Karaahmetoğlu strongly reacted to the statements by AfD's Saxony-Anhalt State Premier candidate Ulrich Siegmund, who linked defense industry production with "remigration" and deportation policies. Karaahmetoğlu argued that AfD's policies towards immigrants are now emerging more clearly.

While discussions continue in Germany regarding the migration and "remigration" policies of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, a striking statement came from SPD Member of the Bundestag Macit Karaahmetoğlu.

Karaahmetoğlu reacted to the statements by AfD's Saxony-Anhalt State Premier candidate Ulrich Siegmund, who linked the state's defense industry production with "remigration" and deportation policies, which he advocated would be implemented in the future.

Siegmund's statement that suitable tools would be needed for future "remigration" and deportation processes while explaining that the defense industry should be supported was evaluated by Karaahmetoğlu as an important sign regarding AfD's migration policies.

"Will You Deport Immigrants at Gunpoint?"

Addressing the AfD politician directly, Karaahmetoğlu used the expressions: "I openly ask Ulrich Siegmund here: When you come to power, do you intend to take immigrants from their homes at gunpoint and deport them?"

Arguing that AfD's true goals have become more visible as it approaches power, Karaahmetoğlu claimed that the party poses a threat not only to immigrants but also to the rule of law and democratic order in Germany.

Karaahmetoğlu said, "What kind of further statements do people need to hear to understand what AfD can do when it comes to power? AfD, which reveals its true intentions as it approaches power, is a threat not only to immigrants but also to Germany and everyone who believes in the rule of law and democracy in Germany."

"Bringing Arms Production and Sending People Away into the Same Sentence is Striking"

The SPD MP said that Siegmund bringing together the issues of the defense industry and sending immigrants out of the country in the same statement shows AfD's approach to Germany.

Karaahmetoğlu used the expressions: "A state premier candidate talks about sending people out of this country while explaining arms production. Even being able to bring these two topics together in the same sentence shows what kind of place AfD wants to turn Germany into."

"The 'Remigration' Debate: 'Who Will Go, Who Will Stay?'"

Stating that the concept of "remigration," or "return migration," which AfD has been using for a long time, should no longer be seen merely as a political slogan, Karaahmetoğlu raised questions about the practical implications of the concept.

In his statement, Karaahmetoğlu made the following assessments:

"AfD has been saying 'remigration,' or 'return migration,' for years. So what does this mean in real life? Who will go? Who will be allowed to stay here? Who will decide who belongs to Germany? Siegmund's latest words show that we can no longer postpone these questions. Will you send back those who don't want to leave at gunpoint?"

Warning to the Turkish Community: "They Don't Mean Us"

Karaahmetoğlu emphasized that people of immigrant origin living in Germany should not view AfD's rhetoric as an issue concerning only newly arrived immigrants.

Stating that there is a belief, especially within the Turkish community in Germany, along the lines of "We have been living, working, and are citizens here for years; AfD doesn't mean us," Karaahmetoğlu said that this approach needs to be questioned.

Karaahmetoğlu said, "Because the distinction AfD wants to create is not just between passports, but is shaped by who is considered a 'real German' in their eyes."

"People of Immigrant Origin Are an Inseparable Part of Germany"

Stating that people of immigrant origin living in Germany should not be seen as a community added to the country later, Karaahmetoğlu drew attention to the role of immigrants in the country's economic, scientific, cultural, and social life.

Karaahmetoğlu continued his words as follows:

"Your doctor in the hospital, your professor at the university, your company's manager, the engineer in your factory, the shopkeeper in your neighborhood… Germany's migration story is no longer just the story of labor migration. Millions of people are the bearers of this country's economy, science, culture, and daily life."

Karaahmetoğlu, asserting that AfD aims to create a new dividing line within society, used the expressions: "What AfD wants to do is to draw a new 'who is with us, who is not' line over all this shared life."

"Their True Intentions Are Clear"

At the end of his statement, SPD Member of the Bundestag Macit Karaahmetoğlu called on the public, arguing that AfD's policies are now seen more clearly.

Karaahmetoğlu concluded his words with the following expressions:

"There is no longer a need to read between the lines to understand AfD. They are saying it themselves. Their true intentions are clear. If there are still those today who say 'They don't mean us,' they should listen carefully to the warnings today, so as not to say 'How could we not have seen this?' tomorrow."
